Often I am ridiculed because of the amount of tabs I have open in Firefox at one time. Unfortunately this habit also carries into other programs as well. Eclipse by design only gives you one row of tabs at the top (or bottom if you choose) of the editing window; as a result, not all the tabs will fit at the same time which makes it difficult to navigate with a mouse or by using COMMAND-F6 (Mac) or CTRL-F6 (Windows/Linux). Thankfully, however, there is another solution.
Pressing COMMAND-E (Mac) or CTRL-E (Windows/Linux) will bring up a menu (the same menu you can access by clicking the chevron), this menu has find-as-you-type capabilities which allow you to focus the tab you were looking for easily and fast.

This is an essential feature in any program, I am disappointed I didn't find it sooner. Please leave other useful Eclipse shortcuts in the comments.

A little shortcut I have learned in recent years is the little "x" that closes a particular file/window when you are done using it. It is apparently available in almost every program and can prevent you from having so many windows open at once. Perhaps you should learn to use it!
